#ChennaiRainUpdates @ 4 PM - 6 Dec: more rains for next 30 hours

#ChennaiRainUpdates @  4 PM - 6 Dec: Good evening! #SpiritOfChennai you will surely built #NammaChennai to a better place!
Across Chennai we had rains - moderate to heavy showers. North Chennai, from now till tomorrow morning (2AM), you will have only drizzles. South Chennai and Coastal Chennai (OMR, ECR) you will have some more moderate showers. You had heavy showers through the day with break.

#ChennaiRainsDec7: Around 2 AM on 7 Dec, rain activity may start and by 4 AM Chennai coast and central Chennai will experience heavy rains. Across Chennai - especially South Chennai, we may have moderate to heavy rains. By noon North Chennai will have some respite and as the day ends South Chennai might have a peaceful night.

Dec 8th, should be relatively a dry day.

Other parts of Tamil Nadu and coastal region will have intense rain activities as well including inlands like Coimbatore and delta regions. If it is in the delta region, it will be good.

Summary: Be prepared for next 30 hours of rain. North Chennai is well placed compared to South Chennai and coastal Chennai. Rest of TN and Inland be prepared for some heavy showers.

Worrisome: Hope these rainfalls are not too intense in the water catchment areas/ lakes in and around Chennai. If it is very heavy, then more water (cusecs will be released).


Clarifications: The low pressure mentioned by Met dept. is next to Kanyakumari and may not have impact on Chennai. However, coastal TN starting from Nagai and delta regions will have impact including inlands.

Chennai @ 3PM - 4 Dec: Chennai glad for you! You had generally a large dry spell. You might be experiencing some rain - moderate to heavy. Don’t panic. This will move fast. You may have minor showers through the evening and night - mostly drizzles. Otherwise you are safe. However, South West coastal TN / Pondicherry …Cuddalore, Nagai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari - will get some heavy showers. Again, many models show we have some intense activity from Sunday to Tuesday - NOT confirmed. Will review and confirm later. Chennai - you be safe, be vigilant, help. The nation really wants to know why do you exist. Just fyi - Chennai and TN - we are part of India. We feel proud to be part of India though you forgot the misery of thousands of flood victims across Tamil Nadu. You made stories out of the human misery as a breaking news. However, you fail to see the need for relief and rehab in ground zero (real - not the computer generated one ). Wish 'today' 'India' realizes how you galvanize us to things that are important for your well-wishers (advertisers) and movers and shakers (I saw a picture of one such man going by boat in his lungi with a smart phone and another had a miserable sendoff). Since you are failing as a "fourth estate", "fifth estate" we are making our voice heard in the wilderness. You have forgotten...
