Again, the chances are minimal and we need to wait for inputs. Also, Friday, 11 Dec. it may rain in Chennai - probably drizzles in South West Chennai.  Again, even if it rains, in these days, it will not be moderate or heavy rains. North Chennai, from now till tomorrow morning (2AM), you will have only drizzles. South Chennai and Coastal Chennai (OMR, ECR) you will have some more moderate showers. This may last for few hours across city - sporadic and patches - especially South Chennai and ECR - OMR - Adyar - Mylapore . These are clouds with 2mm to 4mm intensity of rain fall. Its not a 12/1 situation. This may last through the night. Hopefully, it does not lead to floods. Chennai be safe!

Chennai @ 3PM - 4 Dec: Chennai glad for you! You had generally a large dry spell. You might be experiencing some rain - moderate to heavy. Don’t panic. This will move fast. You may have minor showers through the evening and night - mostly drizzles. Otherwise you are safe. However, South West coastal TN / Pondicherry …Cuddalore, Nagai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari - will get some heavy showers. Again, many models show we have some intense activity from Sunday to Tuesday - NOT confirmed. Will review and confirm later. Chennai - you be safe, be vigilant, help. Chennai @ 7am - 4 Dec: Good morning Chennai! As I post this few areas in Chennai might be experiencing some rain already. This will be patchy and not widespread. There might be some heavy rains but not bad ones. Came across this -  "The low will cause the most numerous and heaviest rainfall to be focused across the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu to far southern Kerala into Saturday. While the highest rainfall totals during this time will likely be recorded south of Chennai, the city faces additional rainfall and flooding downpours. The low will move away after Saturday, but tropical moisture will keep streaming inland and lead to more drenching showers and thunderstorms". Continuing surges of moisture from the Bay of Bengal will fuel scattered to widespread rainfall into next week. Chennai @ 1am - 4 Dec: Chennai take some rest! You will have some shower. It will be less intense. None of the models / satellite images suggest heavy down pour for 4 Dec. That’s some good news. But wet days are ahead! So please prepare yourself. May not be a deluge but still wet. The catch is not the down  pour. But South Chennai and suburbs, how will you further manage the flood. Hope there is no more heavy rain in the lakes in Tambaram and Chengalpattu. Hope Pondicherry and Cuddalore survives through. Also, they get some good aid. Chennai admire your spirit. Chennai Rain update 6pm 3 Dec: Chennai! Wow some mercies. No much rain against all expectation. Rains were very minimal.  You may have some sparing showers. You should be happy for tomorrow as well. Tomorrow, there might be few drizzles and generally dry. However, Pondicherry, Cuddalore and neighboring areas will have some heavy downpour. Wish there will some change of weather and respite for them. Since media is hounding Chennai, we know the impact. However, there are regions beyond Tambaram, Pondy, Cuddalore, etc, we do not know what is happening there. Be safe and stock. We might have some more wet days coming on/ after Sunday 6th Dec. Chennai rainfall update @ 3 Dec 1 PM : Chennai be careful. The rain fall might not be intense. However, anymore rain can be bad for the city.You may get close to 20 mm rain across city today. Rain might be there for next few days and may be intense as well. Next 24 hours is critical for you. South Chennai, Tambaram, Chengelpet, Pondicherry, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore - God be with you!
